Ryu Jun Yeol To MC Alongside IVE’s Wonyoung And ZEROBASEONE’s Hanbin, Sparking Backlash

“No one wants him.”

It was announced on October 25, 2024, that actor Ryu Jun Yeol will be the MC for Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2024 alongside IVE‘s Wonyoung and ZEROBASEONE‘s Hanbin. The show will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, on December 27, 2024, at IMPACT Challenger Hall. This will be the first time for Ryu to MC for the prestigious awards ceremony. He previously MC-ed for the 2022 Busan International Film Festival’s opening ceremony, proving his skills.

Despite this, the news has not been met with positivity. Ryu Jun Yeol’s past scandal involved a messy, public triangle with then-ex-girlfriend Hyeri and then-current beau Han So Hee. As Han So Hee entangled herself in the situation, Ryu’s lack of personal address about the situation raised eyebrows globally.

Many have expressed their disappointment in choice of MC.

  • It’s not like he’s famous for MC-ing, so this is kind of random. It’s not a combination I’m looking forward to particularly.
  • Who even wants him?
  • ??
  • Why? Were there really no rising actors for this?
  • Huh? It’s not like he’s good at MC-ing. The other two don’t match with him too…
  • Ryu?
  • Why?
  • Okay okay, just because everyone is commenting on his visuals, don’t get swept up in it too LOL. You could lose everything in a sweep.
  • Huh?
