Married Celebrity Embroiled In Sex Scandal Allegations Involving A Transgender Woman
A 36-year-old married father of two is currently embroiled in a sex scandal involving alleged prostitution. He is accused of soliciting sexual services while staying at a hotel in China.
Yi Jianlian is a retired athlete, who is considered one of the best Chinese basketball players of all time, second only to Yao Ming. Yi played for the Milwaukee Bucks, New Jersey Nets, Washington Wizards, and Dallas Mavericks before announcing his retirement in August of 2023.
According to news reports, the scandal began after a nude photo, allegedly of Yi, and an identification card that matched his personal details began to circulate online on October 17. These photos, along with WeChat messages, allegedly show Yi requesting and engaging in escort services in a hotel. He allegedly paid the escort $1,500 USD for her services.
The escort was initially rumored to be a 19-year-old transgender woman named Candy Li, due to the fact that the WeChat screenshot showed her profile photo.
Li, however, has denied being the escort and claims that someone else fabricated the screenshot using her photo.
Many netizens have reportedly defended Yi and believe that the images have been doctored. Nevertheless, several brands, including China Life Insurance Company, SAIC-GM, and Guangzhou Zhujiang Brewery Group, have already removed Yi, who has not yet addressed the allegations, from their ads.
