BTS’s Jin Opens Up About The Personal Inspiration Behind His New Self-Written Single

It was his first time writing an entire song.

BTS‘s Jin recently guested on Episode 64 of Jang Do Yeon‘s Salon Drip 2 to promote his upcoming solo album HAPPY. He opened up about the inspiration behind his new songs.

Jin explained that while fulfilling his mandatory military service, he was eager to return home and meet ARMYs. So, as soon as he returned, he began writing the lyrics for the song dedicated to his fans.

When I was serving in the military, I really wanted to go home, work, and meet my fans. So I decided to make use of my time and made a huge list of different ideas. And starting from the day after I was discharged I wrote the lyrics of my fan song.

— Jin

Jin revealed that it was his first time writing lyrics for a whole song, and he accomplished it quickly. He was able to do so because of his love for ARMYs. Both “I will come to you” and pre-release single “I’ll Be There” are about his love for ARMYs.

Jin: It was my first time writing lyrics for an entire song, but I did it just in a day or two.

Jang Do Yeon: Thinking of your fans?

Jin: I put it all in a song.

Jin had a good portion of the lyrics as ideas from while he was still serving. “I will come to you” is certainly a meaningful song for Jin and ARMYs.

Jin: I packed the song with my longing. I… Will be there soon. I will soon leave this place to get to you so please wait for me. That’s where it started. 30% of the lyrics are from the ideas I wrote in the military.

Jang Do Yeon: It must be a super valuable album for you and your fans.

Jin: It is.
