Actress Banned Because Of BLACKPINK Lisa’s Performance Returns One Year Later

Her ban lasted longer than other celebs’.

Last year, BLACKPINK‘s Lisa became the first K-Pop artist to be featured at the historic Crazy Horse Cabaret, a nude performance venue. Many fans supported Lisa’s performance, but unfortunately, some of these fans were also celebrities who soon found themselves embroiled in controversy.

Chinese actress and singer Zhang Jiani (also known as Jenny Zhang) is best known for her roles in the TV series Palace II (2012) and Story of Yanxi Palace (2018). She was one of several Chinese celebrities who attended Lisa’s Crazy Horse debut.

Zhang received a one-year ban from social media for attending the show. As of November 1, Zhang’s suspension has been lifted, and her Weibo and Douyin (Chinese TikTok) accounts, which were inactive since her suspension, no longer display messages that say Zhang was banned for violating the law and platform rules.

Chinese actress and model Angelababy was also slapped with a social media ban for watching the Crazy Horse show, but her ban only lasted three months. Because Zhang publically posted photos from Crazy Horse, her ban was extended to one year.  In China, burlesque shows are considered indecent performances, and Chinese celebrities are not permitted to attend or promote sexually explicit performances.
