SM Entertainment Under Fire For WayV’s Alleged Plagiarism Of TXT’s Yeonjun

Fans are divided.

Netizens are accusing SM Entertainment of plagiarism after concept images for WayV‘s 6th Mini Album FREQUENCY dropped.

The most recent concept images serve dark and mysterious vibes. Yet, the previously revealed concept triggered controversy.

The previously released concept photos had a more fun and eccentric aesthetic, featuring each member with a different prop. It was YangYang‘s photos specifically that raised eyebrows, as they sparked plagiarism suspicions.

However, netizens found YangYang’s photoshoot a little too similar to TXT Yeonjun‘s concept for his solo album GGUM. They pointed out multiple similarities, such as the use of bright pink bubblegum, the teeth pose, the animated character, similar hairstyle, etc.

Some fans of WayV even admitted they couldn’t deny the similarities. Still, netizens emphasized it’s not the artist’s fault but the company’s.

On the other hand, some WayV fans jumped to their defense, saying it’s generally SM Entertainment’s style. They argued that one could say that TXT had plagiarised the NCT members.
