Netizens Accuse HYBE Of Negative Mediaplay Against NewJeans Hyein’s Family
Amidst the ongoing conflicts between NewJeans, ADOR, and the former CEO of the company, Min Hee Jin, speculations of a KOSDAQ-listed company, “D,” being involved with Min and NewJeans member Hyein‘s uncle has raised eyebrows.
Company “D” was first rumored to be in the process of recruiting Min Hee Jin but she promptly denied it, saying she hadn’t met with any investors. The same company has now been associated with Hyein’s uncle, surnamed Lee.
On November 13, Woman Economy reported that five individuals, including Lee, were set to be registered as internal director candidates for Company D. The company was planning to present a motion at the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders this month to register these five candidates, including Lee, but the decision was unexpectedly withdrawn.
Company D’s public filing with the Financial Supervisory Service’s Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System showed that one of the five nominated individuals was Company H’s chairman Lee, a graduate of Hanyang University. Based on these specifics, entertainment industry insiders speculated that this Lee in question was Hyein’s uncle.
Lee had first appeared on the internal director candidate list in a filing on October 2. His appointment was scheduled to be processed at the extraordinary general meeting on November 8, but the meeting has been delayed twice, to November 20 and 26.
Interestingly, company D’s decision to replace its entire internal director board came right after Min denied the investment rumors. She released an official statement on November 5, calling the rumors “baseless,” and two days later, company D disclosed its complete overhaul of its board member candidates.
Neither Min Hee Jin, nor company D have clarified the connection between the company and Hyein’s uncle, which has led to the speculations getting murkier. But netizens feel that such speculations are being fueled by HYBE to harm the public image of NewJeans and Min Hee Jin.
