Actress Puts Shady Man On Blast For His $64,000 Job Offer

Let’s just say she didn’t accept the offe

An actress is making headlines for her response to an unsavory and unsolicited job offer. The offer came from a stranger who claimed to be an entertainment industry representative.

Ceci Mak, an actress and 2020 Miss Hong Kong Top 10 finalist, has appeared in over a dozen series since 2017. Most recently, she guest starred in Season 6 of the mystery-action series Forensic Heroes. She also plays a supporting role in the upcoming suspense series Anonymous Signal (also known as Death Hint).

On November 11, Mak revealed that she was approached by a man via social media who offered her $500,000 HKD (about $64,219 USD) for a job. When Mak asked him what the job entailed, he told her it would be a dinner date. While this might seem innocent, in Hong Kong’s entertainment industry the term “dinner date” is associated with practices akin to escort services.

Mak is just one of several female celebrities who have been propositioned in this manner. In the past, actresses Jacquelin Ch’ng and Sisley Choi received similar offers for $12 million HKD (approximately $1.54 million USD) and $2 million HKD (approximately $256,000 USD) respectively.

Once Mak found out the nature of the job offer, she ceased communication with the man and shared a screenshot of their exchange on Threads. To the man, she wrote, “Such activities are not part of an actress’s job. Dialing 218 followed by five zeroes might address your query.” That number belongs to a fried chicken fast food chain.
