Why BLACKPINK Rarely Do Group Variety Shows During Their Comebacks

Things have changed recently, though.

Something that a lot of K-Pop groups do during a comeback is going on variety shows to promote their music. However, not every group does this. During an episode of Knowing Brothers, BLACKPINK‘s Jennie shared the reason why the group doesn’t go on many variety shows when they make comebacks.

During the episode, it was revealed that Jennie is the one in charge of talking to their agency (YG Entertainment) if they have any complaints or requests.

When asked what the most recent complaint she made was, Jennie shared that she requested for more Korean variety show appearances for the group.

Jennie then revealed that YG Entertainment limits their variety show appearances since they want to give the members some time to rest.

However, for their “Lovesick Girls” promotions, the BLACKPINK members decided that they wanted to go on variety shows rather than rest.

That mindset was very different from when each member started focusing on their solo promotions after leaving YG Entertainment. Since forming her own label, Odd Atelier, Jennie has held positions on variety shows Apartment 404 and My Name is Gabriel. While Jisoo is focusing more on her acting activities, she made sure to appear on both Hyeri and Red Velvet Seulgi’s YouTube channels. Rosé has been making her way through what seems like every famous YouTube series out there, from Hot Ones and Buzzfeed’s puppy interview to Vogue’s cooking series and numerous radio interviews. And Lisa now has a role in The White Lotus while also showcasing her wit through Lee Young Ji’s No Prepare.
