THE BOYZ Hint At Name Change As New Company Applies For Trademarks
Recent developments indicate that popular K-Pop group THE BOYZ could face a potential name change following their move to a new agency, One Hundred.
The company — co-founded through investment by the famous MC Mong — has been in lengthy behind-the-scenes negotiations with the group, culminating in an exclusive contract recently being signed by the members.
THE BOYZ Will Officially Leave IST Entertainment And Transfer To One Hundred
Speculation about the group’s shift to One Hundred began circulating in the industry as early as spring, although the agency had refrained from confirming any details, simply stating that nothing was finalized. However, it has now emerged that One Hundred has been preparing for the transition since the summer.
To preempt possible disputes over naming rights, One Hundred filed for the trademark “The Boys” on August 28. More recently, on November 13, they sought to secure additional trademarks, including “The New Boyz” and the abbreviation “TNBZ.” This move hints at the group potentially adopting a different name if needed.
Negotiations between One Hundred and THE BOYZ’s former management company, IST Entertainment, are reportedly ongoing. Should the two parties fail to reach an agreement on the rights to the group’s current name, a rebranding might be on the horizon for THE BOYZ.
