“2024 MAMA Awards US” Seems To Brace For Tension As RIIZE’s “OT7 vs. OT6” Clash Escalates
A list of prohibited items is nothing new to concert-goers; A venue will often announce what attendees can or cannot bring ahead of the event. That said, though, the “2024 MAMA Awards US” has sparked some concerns as group RIIZE‘s “OT7 vs. OT6” struggle continues.
One viral theqoo post pointed to the MAMA Awards’ official announcement, asking attendees to leave the prohibited items at home. The list included items that are prohibited in general, like guns and fireworks that pose an obvious threat to the venue and its audience—but it was the “posters, banners, and slogans” that heated the discussion.
Some believed this particular rule could have stemmed from the online movement to protest the six-membered RIIZE.
Ever since former member Seunghan‘s return to the team was announced, reversed, and then switched to a solo debut, a group of “OT7” RIIZE fans have been working toward a protest at the US-bound MAMA Awards.

One TikTok in particular was said to be threatening “OT6” fans and hinting at violence/gun violence. With the US’s track record of mass shootings, the video was not received well—except for the supportive comments also suggesting violent interactions. And though it was somewhat brushed off as humor, netizens questioned if such online buzz could have led to a sizable list of prohibited items.
While a similar lineup of items has been banned from the “2024 MAMA Awards Japan,” too…
…OT7 fans accused MAMA and SM Entertainment of working together to ban posters, banners, and slogans.
On the other hand, Korean netizens coming across the news questioned if MAMA Awards should even be held in the United States at all.

- “Just bring it back to Korea, omg.”
- “I wish RIIZE would attend the Japan one instead. The US seems too dangerous for both the artist and the fans.”
- “This is insane… So dangerous, for real.”
- “How come a Korean award show is taking place in the US and Japan? Just host it in Korea, it’s that simple.”
- “So f*cked up.”
- “Send RIIZE to Japan instead. What good will the US show bring? F*cking a*sholes.”
- “Wouldn’t the Korean fansites heading to the US one also be in danger? From what I remember, there were cases of violence against Asians with cameras in the past.”
The “2024 MAMA Awards US,” featuring actor Park Bo Gum as the host, is set to take place on November 21, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.
