Woman Dies After Receiving 6 Plastic Surgery Procedures In Under 24 Hours
A Chinese woman, surnamed Liu, died after receiving six different plastic surgery procedures in a matter of 24 hours. After taking out a loan of $5,600 USD, she went in for her surgeries at a clinic in Nanning, China.
It began with double eyelid surgery and a nose job which took 5 hours. Next, she had liposuction done on her thighs. The following morning, the fat was injected into her face and breasts.
She was discharged on the next day. However, she suddenly collapsed in the clinic. After being transferred to a hospital, she passed away later that day. The cause of death was acute respiratory failure caused by a pulmonary embolism from liposuction.
Her family, including her husband, an eight-year-old daughter, and a four-year-old son, sued the clinic for compensation. Initially, the court ruled the clinic fully responsible and ordered compensation of over $140,000 USD. However, after an appeal, the judgment was revised to around $80,000 USD as her physical condition may have also contributed to her death.
The situation gained attention online where netizens left a variety of comments criticizing the practice’s unprofessionalism. “Six surgeries in one day? Does the clinic have no common sense? Did they not consider the risk of complications, especially with liposuction, which can easily lead to blood clots?”, one netizen wrote.
The tragic incident is a reminder of the damages that can be caused by illegal or unlicensed practices.
