Rising Star’s Popularity Plunges Amid Scandal As Thousands Of Fans Exit
After losing support from thousands of fans, a popular singer is now speaking out about the controversy that has damaged his public image. He has personally addressed each claim to clarify what is fact and what is fiction.
Malaysian singer-songwriter Firdhaus rose to fame in 2020 after debuting in the Mandopop industry. His ballad “Gulf of Alaska” went viral on Douyin (China’s TikTok), attracting attention from music lovers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Firdhaus has become a popular singer in China, but his covers of Mandarin, English, and Korean songs are also helping him reach a wider audience.
For four years, Firdhaus dated fellow Malaysian singer Diorlying Tan. The couple announced their breakup in October, a year after they went public with their relationship. Since the split, rumors of infidelity have circulated online.
According to media reports, Tan allegedly made comments about Firdhaus earlier this week using a private social media account. She allegedly wrote, “I’ve never said that [Firdhaus] cheated, he just found someone else pretty quickly,” and claimed that he spread lies about her spending his money.

Since November 16, Firdhaus, who has been steadily building a robust social media following, has reportedly lost around 30,000 followers on Instagram. On November 18, he addressed various rumors and claims, including his alleged infidelity. “I was not unfaithful,” he wrote. “but I do not deny that I have been getting to know other people in the two months since our breakup.”

He shed some light on his current dating life, telling fans that he is still single but is currently getting to know a woman he has developed feelings for.
I got to know this girl a few years back from a shoot. Although we’ve worked together a few times, we did not grow close until we had to get in touch again for some shoots for my concerts in Australia last month. I do indeed have positive feelings for her, and even visited her in Australia on my days off, but we are not together.

He urged netizens to stop doxing the woman by posting photos of her and her family and to stop calling her names such as “homewrecker” and “mistress.” Firdhaus also addressed the financial claim reportedly made by Tan by stating that their expenses were split equally while they lived together. He denied using his money to fund her music projects.
As of November 20, two days after Firdhaus posted his statement, the singer is still losing followers, and public sentiment is mixed at best. Some netizens believe that Firdhaus was unfaithful to Tan and have mocked him on Instagram.
