“Unconventional” Korean Model Who Disappeared 4 Years Ago Returns With A Surprise Announcement
Model Moon Gabi, who once went viral with her “unconventional beauty,” surprised her fans with an announcement that she is now a mom.
The model, who was relatively active until 2020—appearing on various entertainment programs, disappeared after halting all broadcast activities out of the blue. Her Instagram also went silent after her last post in 2022.

But on November 22, 2024 (KST), in celebration of her birthday, the model returned to the social media platform and shared a black-and-white photo of herself with her baby.
She wrote that, while she believed to “have been forgotten,” she wanted to share the news with her remaining fans. Expressing nervousness, the model explained that she went off grid to “keep [the pregnancy] hidden” from the public for “the well-being of [her] child.”
As we approach the end of 2024, a year that brought many changes, I wanted to take a moment to share my story with you. I thought I might have been forgotten, but for those who still wonder about me and cheer me on, I felt the need to express my gratitude and apologies through an honest message.
Writing this publicly, not just as my own story but as a mother, fills me with nervousness and worry. However, I’ve decided to muster the courage to embrace a simpler, more ordinary happiness as a mother and share this with you.
When the unexpected news came, I wasn’t prepared at all. Rather than fully enjoying the joy and celebration of pregnancy, I spent most of that time quietly, surrounded by the blessings of my family.
I made that choice solely for the sake of my unborn child. I always believed that to protect something precious, it had to be kept carefully hidden. As an unprepared and inexperienced expectant mother, I needed time to get everything ready. But in truth, I think it was the choice of a timid mother.

Though keeping the post closed for comments, the model asked for congratulations on her child birth and hoped for support as a new mom. In a previous post, instead, fans showered her with blessing and wished her the best.
Looking at my child, who has now entered this world, I realize I’m still far from being a perfectly prepared mother. Yet, regardless of my shortcomings, this little one fills my heart with love just by existing. Watching my baby, I’ve made a vow to focus less on perfection and instead strive to become a healthy and happy mother, filled with love and joy. My greatest wish is to give my child a life overflowing with unconditional love, health, and happiness.
I wanted to show my child only the bright and beautiful world I once knew. To do that, I knew I had to gather my courage. Just as pregnancy and childbirth were challenges, I know there will be countless new experiences ahead as I raise my child. While this letter may not resonate with everyone, I hope it reaches at least a few of those who continue to support me. Now that I’ve shared my story, I feel a bit more at ease.
