Contestant’s Vocal Tone Completely Changes After One Simple Lesson From Red Velvet’s Wendy
An online community board garnered much attention online for Red Velvet Wendy’s amazing vocal tips for contestants.
Wendy, a judge on KBS’s The Ddanddara, an audition show to find all-round entertainers, gave useful tips to a contestant who saw instant results.
This is the contestant’s singing before receiving a lesson from Wendy.
After listening to his voice, Wendy gave him a quick one-point lesson.
She told the contestant to push the wall with his neck while sending his voice forward.
He sang the song again and this was how he sounded after her lesson.
The other judges and contestants were blown away at the difference in his high tone register.
She revealed that singing like this would naturally lessen the pressure on the shoulders and allow him to breathe with his stomach, creating more of a head voice.
Korean netizens were amazed at the difference in tone and praised Wendy’s teaching method.
- “This is Wendy for you all. She’s so amazing, teaching exactly what is needed. That pose looks like something JAESSBEE used. It really must work.”

- “I’m going to have to try this at home too.”
- “So amazing.”
- “Wow, the contestant’s voice was good, but it felt difficult to hit the high notes. But with that method, it sounded more natural and resonant.”
- “A true top-star teacher, Wendy!”
- “I didn’t know there was a method like that.”
