3rd Generation Idol-Turned-Actor To Star In BL Drama, Sparks Debate
Here’s all we know about it.
According to XSports News, former idol VIXX‘s Cha Hakyeon (also known as N) will soon be starring in a BL (boys’ love) drama. The drama will be aired exclusively on OTT platforms.
Cha Hakyeon will be the male lead of Killer Next Door (working title), playing Yoon Je. Yoon Je is a professional baseball player. He gets entangled with a fan.
Netizens responded with mixed feelings, with some anticipating his role. Some wondered why he decided to take on the role. Normally, BLs have usually been acted in by rookie actors looking for recognition or work. Others expressed curiosity in the BL genre.
- Did they pay him a lot? Can’t believe he’s doing a BL.
- It’s not that only rookies need to be the ones filming BLs, but he already was at the level of playing supporting roles on public broadcast dramas, so this is kind of fascinating to see him play the lead in a BL. Well, it’s great that he’s trying everything without being picky LOL.
- Just why…
- A handsome guy in a BL? Love that. Gotta watch it LOL.
- I think how people form impressions is terrible. Stuff like how a if an actor who played the main lead suddenly does a supporting role in a BL, they wouldn’t receive other scripts. LOL. This is why actors can’t show a variety of sides, because they’re too scared of the impression things will make.
- Is this a remake?
- I thought he was doing pretty well. Why a BL?
This is Cha Hakyeon’s first attempt at the BL genre despite his stacked career in acting. Killer Next Door is in talks to air on TVING.
