ENHYPEN’s Jay Revealed To Have Been SM Entertainment Trainee
Previously, ENHYPEN‘s Jay shared that he had been street cast by another company before joining BigHit Entertainment. He trained there for a month before leaving due to personal circumstances. Jay trained privately for a couple of months before successfully passing auditions for BigHit Entertainment. Later, he moved on to debut in ENHYPEN through ILAND.
Fans had been curious as to what company it was. The truth was finally revealed on No Pogi with NCT‘s Jungwoo and MONSTA X‘s Shownu. As Jungwoo is from SM Entertainment, Jay brought up the fact that he had trained at SM Entertainment after being cast by them.

I got an casting offer from [Jungwoo’s] company. It was a good opportunity because I was at the age where I was not passionate about anything. For the first time, I was passionate about trying something, so my parents were also like, ‘well then you have to do it.’ So they gave me their support and after I left [SM Entertainment], I worked hard at a dance academy for a few months, and my current company came to visit the academy and I participated in a public audition, and that was it.
