Cosmetic Brand Under Fire For Using aespa Winter’s Portraits Rights Without Permission
The portrait rights of aespa’s Winter have been used without permission by the cosmetic brand Medipeel.
The brand used an image of Winter for a viral marketing video related to its products.
The video included the caption, “Trendy dewy skin is all the rage thanks to aespa’s Winter.”
However, Winter is currently a model for Amore Paceific’s brands Mamonde and Espoir but has never worked for any other beauty brand or Medipeel.
They also used a portion of the group’s YouTube content of Winter using a wrapping mask for a photo shoot without permission. They also promoted the products used in the video to be Medipeel.
To this, Medipeel responded, “We were not aware of this as the marketing campaign was done through a third-party agency.”
After confirming the issue, they revealed they are taking the measures needed to delete it, but the videos still have not been deleted.
Amore Pacific, the brand Winter has been working with since last year, stated, “We are in the process of checking the facts.” Attention is focused on how they will respond to the unauthorized use of Winter’s portrait rights.
