“Squid Game” Creator Bluntly Admits He’s “Sick” Of The Show And Netflix

He is ready to move on.

The hype is real for the second season of Netflix’s hit Korean thriller series, Squid Game, which premieres on December 26. Yet, its creator is not excited.

While Season 3 has already been confirmed for 2025, creator Hwang Dong Hyuk confessed he’s “so sick” of Squid Game in a new interview.

Netflix’s head of content for the Asia Pacific region, Minyoung Kim, realizes that a lot of “pressure” weighs on Hwang’s shoulders due to Squid Game. Yet, she claimed that Netflix assured them he would “not lose any teeth” during the last two seasons, as he previously revealed he lost several during the filming of Season 1.

Still, Hwang Dong Hyuk told Variety in a new interview that he’s ready for an extended hiatus once he has completed postproduction on Squid Game 3, revealing he’s exhausted and sick of Squid Game.

I’m so exhausted. I’m so tired. In a way, I have to say, I’m so sick of ‘Squid Game.’

Hwang admitted that he’s not thinking of any new projects. He just wants to escape to a remote island (not the Squid Game one, of course) to enjoy free time away from Netflix.

I’m so sick of my life making something, promoting something. So I’m not thinking about my next project right now. I’m just thinking about going to some remote island and having my own free time without any phone calls from Netflix.
