Actor Song Joong Ki Tells All About His Married Dad Life In Italy
Ever since announcing his marriage and forthcoming fatherhood in 2023, actor Song Joong Ki has remained rather quiet about his personal life. Other than the occasional comments defending them from rumors, the actor had not said much about his marriage—and his fans relied on the public’s rare sightings of him and his wife, Katy Louise Saunders, on dates around the world to know that the couple was doing well.
That is until Song Joong Ki made a rare appearance on the Hello Choi Hwa Jung YouTube channel and shared all about his wife and kids!
On December 26, 2024 (KST), in her latest video update, show host Choi Hwa Jung welcomed the actor to her home where she cooked for him. While dining with the host, Song Joong Ki opened up about his married life and revealed that he spends most of his time in Italy, where his wife grew up, when he’s not working.
I stay in Itaewon. I also have a place in Tuscany, on the outskirts of Rome, Italy. I live there with my wife. Since my wife has lived in Italy her whole life, we stay there when I’m not working on anything.

The actor also mentioned that, as his children are growing up to speak in Italian, he’s working on learning the language while his wife is working on Korean. He explained that his wife has been excelling at picking up Korean and that she even speaks to his parents in Korean, too.
My son is starting to speak and he’s saying things in Italian. And there are times when I don’t understand what he’s saying. That put a bit of pressure on me, so I’m studying Italian.
On the other hand, my wife is learning Korean. Her language skills are incredible; she learns so quickly. She even says things like, ‘Uhmeoni (mother-in-law), come eat’ to my mom. It’s not perfect*, but isn’t she adorable?
*Song Joong Ki mentions it’s not “perfect” because he quotes his wife speaking in informal Korean, not the honorific.

At one point, Song Joong Ki worried that he was talking about his wife too much—but he continued, pointing out that she “deserves to be bragged about.” In fact, the actor went on to praise what a good-natured, warmhearted his wife is—and how she “scolds” him whenever he’s acting out of place!
I’m the Korean one, but my wife places even more importance on manners and character than I do, so I often get scolded. Once, my manager had something to drop off to me, so he had come over. I ended up making him wait for about 20 minutes because I was somewhere else. After I was done and he left, she sat me down and put me in my place. She said, ‘Who do you think you are to make someone wait?’ So she definitely reminds me of how to be a good person.

Pointing out what a righteous person Song Joong Ki himself is, Choi Hwa Jung noted that their virtuous characters must have attracted one another and brought them together.
