Highly Anticipated K-Drama Forced To Wrap Up Filming Without Popular Female Lead Due To Health Complications
The highly anticipated Genie TV original K-Drama Namib has finalized filming without its leading actress, Go Hyun Jung, due to her ongoing health issues. After careful consideration of her condition, the production team decided to complete the shoot without her.
Filming for Namib was paused late last month when Go Hyun Jung’s health deteriorated. She was unable to attend the show’s press conference on November 16, sparking concern among fans. With only two scenes left for her to film, many were curious about whether she would return to complete her role. Despite her strong desire to continue filming, her health ultimately took priority.
According to insiders, Go Hyun Jung had shown great commitment to the K-Drama, even participating in additional scenes earlier during production. However, since her remaining scenes were not critical to the storyline and she had recently undergone surgery, the production team decided it was best to proceed without her. She has since been discharged from the hospital and is now focusing on her recovery.
Go Hyun Jung addressed her health concerns through social media, reassuring fans that she is on the mend. In one post, she expressed gratitude for the support she’s received, mentioning that she is now able to eat well and meet friends. She also shared her determination to take better care of herself moving forward.
Despite the challenges, Namib is set to air as scheduled, marking Go Hyun Jung’s first return to television in three years. The K-Drama, which stars Go Hyun Jung, Ryeo Un, and Yoon Sang Hyun, follows the journey of a former star producer and a trainee who team up after both are cast aside by the industry.
Namib will air on ENA every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM KST, and free streaming will be available on KT Genie TV and Genie TV Mobile immediately after the broadcast.
