Fifth-Gen Girl Group Member Faces Criticism For Over-editing Her Pictures
A fifth-generation female idol is going viral on Korean online communities for her “severe” editing of her own photos.
The idol in question is Junhwi, a member of the girl group SAY MY NAME.
On January 11, a user on Nate Pann posted a side-by-side comparison of Junhwi’s visuals when filmed during her performance with her group versus in a video posted by herself. In the two photos, she looked quite different from one another.
The OP clarified that Junhwi has always had a pretty face, but her allegedly self-edited picture made her look like those influencers who over-manipulate their pictures on social media.
Many netizens agreed with the OP, while some argued that it might not be over-editing but just a difference in makeup and angles.
- “I saw her on Twitter and went to see SAY MY NAME fancams thinking there’s a f*cking pretty person in the group but couldn’t find her. No wonder.”
- “It might be due to editing, but it could also be a case where the face looks different up close and from far away. There are many people whose features look full and pretty if you look up close, but from a distance, the empty spaces on their faces stand out more.”
- “I also saw her on Instagram and thought she looked similar to Leeseo, so I went to check her out. But none of her photos looked like her media photos.”
- “Huh? Is that really the same person?”
- “Accusing someone of overediting when they looked like this on a music show camera.”
