Second-Gen Idol Speaks Out About Why Groups Repeat Outfits On Stage

There’s a reason for everything.

On January 11-12, the SMTOWN LIVE in Seoul concert took place at the Gocheok Sky Dome. For two nights, fans could see all their favorite SM artists in one place.

This concert was even more special as it celebrated the company’s 30th anniversary. Many older-generation artists joined the lineup, from Tony Ahn, Bada, and more!

Fans were also happy to see Super Junior together because while some members did solo activities outside the company, they still participated in group activities.

However, many fans were disappointed to see them repeating outfits they wore before.

So it wasn’t just NCT DREAM and NCT 127 who repeated outfits? I guess Super Junior did, too, from looking at what’s trending on Twitter. It’s fine to take care of the newer idols, but isn’t it also right to take care of the older idols, too?

I’m mad about the repeated outfits…today’s hair and makeup game was crazy. This is my review of watching the performance after cram school…

The outfits are the same ones from this day…why are they saving these outfits and using them again.

However, not long after, member Leeteuk held a live broadcast and touched on the subject of outfits.

“Many of you said that we repeated outfits we wore from a few years ago, but for this concert, the production cost wasn’t high, so if we were to make custom outfits, it would come out of our pay, and we didn’t have many performances. To make outfits, we would have to pay thousands.

The reason I keep talking about this is because it can cause misunderstanding. If I don’t talk about it, the stylists get all the hate. The more outfits we make, the more they take out from production costs and our activity pay, and it feels like a waste to make something that we wear only once. That’s why we wear them again at events. When we wear an outfit again, please know there is a reason. If we think we’ve reused an outfit too much, we bring it up. So this time, this was our situation, so I hope you all can understand.”

Hopefully fan can understand that there is more to a situation that meets the eye!
