CNBLUE’s Viral Video Captures Members’ Raw Reactions To Problematic Former Member
In celebration of their 15th anniversary, CNBLUE members came together for a Weverse live broadcast, in which they visited their pop-up store. Overwhelmed by how “time flies,” the now-three-membered idol band then took a walk down memory lane while looking around the store.
The members huddled around a corner of the store dedicated to displaying CNBLUE’s history. Looking at different photos and albums, they reminisced about all of CNBLUE’s eras. Then, Kang Minhyuk picked up a photo book from CNBLUE’s 2013 “Blue Moon World Tour.”
While looking through the pages, though, he made a visible effort to hide a page from the photo book while showing the camera. K-Pop fans were quick to understand that he was trying to keep the former member Lee Jonghyun from appearing in any way.
At one point, Kang Minhyuk even let out an audible “Aish”—a grunt of frustration—as he spotted Lee Jonghyun again flipping through the pages of another photo book. To that, Lee Jungshin laughed sheepishly while Jung Yonghwa could be heard switching topics. Even the person behind the camera swiftly backed off to make sure no glimpse of the problematic former member would come into frame.

When a clip of the members’ reactions circulated online, fans found it to be 100% understandable.
- “Aw, CNBLUE! Haha. Because of Lee Jonghyun, the group had to halt activities… No wonder Kang Minhyuk got frustrated.”
- “Imagine not being able to display old group photos at a 15th anniversary pop-up event because of that one guy. Yeah, f*ck him.”
- “The way he said ‘Aish,’ too. It’s not like a surprised ‘Aish.’ He said it so serious and low that it feels so real, haha.”
- “Lee Jonghyun is lucky Kang Minhyuk stopped at ‘Aish.’ If it were me, I would have said a whole lot more. LOL.”
- “Love them for this. I mean, Lee Jonghyun puts me in a sour mood whenever I’m listening to their older songs. Imagine how the members themselves must feel about him.”
Lee Jonghyun removed himself from the group in August 2019 after it was revealed that he was one of the many participating in Jung Joon Young‘s sexually exploitative group chat. At first, Lee Jonghyun tried to sit through the scandal—but when backlash grew after his inappropriate DMs to a streamer were also revealed, he announced his departure.
