Fans of the idol have been waiting in anticipation for the new release and were not disappointed once it dropped. Lisa’s music video for “FUTW” is currently sitting at 8.7 million views, an impressive amount for a solo release.

However, some have expressed surprise over her reported album sales.

The Hanteo Chart reported that Alter Ego sold 30,400 copies in the first day of sales, which is not a small amount.  However, Lisa’s previous album, LALISA, sold 330,129 albums in the first 24 hours, nearly ten times as much as the sales for Alter Ego.

This decline in sales is something that would naturally spark surprise, as Lisa’s popularity has only grown since LALISA was released in 2021, which for many, would equate to more album sales.

Still, there has been a possible reason for this amount of sales pointed out.

With their departures from YG Entertainment, each of the members have set up their own label, which handles their solo work. Lisa’s LLOUD is partnered with RCA Records for the release of her solo music.

Lisa’s primarily advertised venue of sales is the special LLOUD X RCA Records site, where fans from many locations can buy the album directly.

For albums reported on Hanteo, the sales must be reported from specific shops, usually K-Pop stores. For most album releases, fans from around the world would have to buy from these shops in order to get the album at all.

With her own distribution, many fans likely opted to purchase in that manner, rather than go through Korean distribution, which, according to fans, would explain the lower sales.
