Dazed Magazine Honors BTS In Its Best Music Videos of 2016 List
BTS just received the unlikely honor of being included in Dazed Magazine‘s “Best Music Videos of 2016” alongside successful American artists like Kanye West.
2016 was an excellent year for BTS. The group won two daesang awards, making them the first K-Pop artist that was not a part of the ‘Big Three’ (YG Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and SM Entertainment) to win the award. The group’s latest album, Wings, also holds the new U.S. record for “Highest Charting and Best Selling K-Pop Album”. It doesn’t look like BTS’s success is slowing down either as they were recently included in Dazed‘s “Best Music Videos of 2016” for their song “Blood Sweat & Tears”. BTS holds the distinction of being the only K-Pop group included in a list that includes artists such as Grimes, Beyoncé, and Kanye West.
Dazed points to the metaphors, allegories, literary references, and classical imagery as factors that make BTS’s music video one of the best music videos of 2016. Surely the video’s incredible success has something to do with their decision as well. Within 24 hours of the music video being released, it reached over 6 million views on YouTube and broke the previous YouTube record for the highest number of views for a K-Pop group music video within 24 hours. The video was released two months ago and since then has amassed nearly 71 million views!
The music video for “Blood Sweat & Tears” is truly a music video unlike any other.
