2NE1’s Sandara Park Makes Generous Donation To ALS Thanks To Park Bom
Former 2NE1 member Sandara Park has taken part in this year’s Ice Bucket Challenge by making a generous donation!
The Ice Bucket Challenge began in 2014 as a way to promote the awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (aka ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease). This challenge encourages nominated participants to film themselves pouring a bucket of ice water over their heads and then nominating someone else to do the same.

Once nominated, Ice Bucket Challenge participants have 24 hours to accept the challenge. If they fail to accept the challenge, they forfeit through a charitable donation. Many participants, however, still choose to make a donation to the cause.

Fellow 2NE1 member Park Bom recently took part in the ice bucket challenge and nominated Sandara Park in her video!
“I nominate 2NE1’s Sandara Park.” — Park Bom
After receiving the nomination, Sandara Park thanked Park Bom for the nomination and donated 2,121,210 won (~ $1,900 USD).
“I was able to participate in the 2018 Ice Bucket Challenge thanks to Park Bom’s nomination. I’d like to thank Park Bom for nominating me for this good cause.” — Sandara Park
Jinusean‘s Sean Ro thanked her for her generous donation via Instagram.
“The extraordinary volunteer Sandara has also donated 2,121,210 won. Forever 21! Thank you for always doing good things. I pray that your positive energy will bring happiness to many people.” — Sean Ro
Sean Ro, nicknamed the “Charity Angel“, is one of the ALS’s strongest advocates in Korea. He is responsible for reviving the Ice Bucket Challenge in Korea this year and has inspired many celebrities, like Sandara Park, to contribute to the cause.
“In 2014, you could donate without pouring the ice bucket over yourself and that was it. You didn’t have to pick three people to join. For the 2018 campaign, I changed the rule so you have to ask three people even after you donate.” — Sean Ro
His goal is to raise enough funds to found the first South Korean ALS treatment center. Hopefully, with the help of Sean Ro’s idol friends, the ALS foundation will be able to raise enough money in 2018 to proceed with construction.
This year many idols have already, quite literally, taken the plunge. So far, the list of 2018 participants includes several girl group members, such as Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun…
…Girl’s Day‘s Minah…
…and TWICE‘s Nayeon, Sana, and Momo.
Big shoutout to all the K-Pop idols who have participated in the beautiful cause!
