Love It Or Hate It, This Fashion Trend May Be Making A Comeback
In K-Pop, fashion trends come and go faster than you can say “Gucci”, but it looks like this denim fad may be making a comeback in 2019.
Snow wash jeans. Acid wash jeans. Stonewashed jeans. Fashionistas either love them or hate them.
This trouser trend made its debut in the 1970s and became a wardrobe staple of the 80s and 90s before fizzling out for a while.
In K-Pop, various styles of acid wash jeans briefly resurfaced in the early 2010s, thanks to stars like former 2NE1 member Sandara Park…
…SHINee‘s Onew…
…and Girls’ Generation‘s Yoona.
After nearly a decade, acid wash jeans may be coming back to the K-Pop fashion mainstream, according to Korean netizens. Han Hye Jin wore this throwback look for I Live Alone and the rookie girl group Sugar Tint included it in their promotional photos.
Snow wash denim was also featured on the runway this year, in Miu Miu‘s the 2018 F/S collection during Paris Fashion Week.
Even though K-Pop stars look fantastic in just about anything, many Korean netizens aren’t crazy about seeing a revival of this denim trend.
- I’ve never worn these even when they were the trend….I will f*cking resist and not wear them this time too.
- I will definitely never wear these… they don’t even look pretty on Han Hye Jin
- so tacky ㅋ
Will 2019 be the year to dust off your old 2NE1 inspired outfits? We’ll have to wait and see!
