Coachella is an annual music and arts festival held in Indio, California, located in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley. Not only is it a music festival, the weekend has become a huge part of American pop culture.
They are the first female Korean act to perform at Coachella, and the 2nd Korean act to perform — following former label-mates Epik High.
They will be performing on Friday of both Coachella weekends, April 12 and 19 — the same day as legendary artists like Childish Gambino, Janelle Monae, The 1975, Diplo, and more.
Another feat to note is that they are listed on the second line of the Friday line-up, indicating the level of their popularity. Usually, artists on the second line are quite popular and trendy artists. Other artists featured here are Kid Cudi, Khalid, and Zedd.
Paul Tollett, producer of Coachella, recently visited Seoul and met up with BLACKPINK. Perhaps it was to confirm their performance!
Additionally, fellow Korean artists HyukOh and Jambinai will also perform at Coachella. HyukOh is a famous indie band that was once signed with HIGHGRND – a sub-label of YG Entertainment that was once run by EPIKHIGH’s Tablo. HyukOh will perform on April 14th and 21st.
Jambinai will be performing on the 13th and 20th. They are a famous avant-rock band in Korea, who have been active since 2009.
