Review of Top 40 Power Celebrities Ranking of 2018… How will it change this year?
2019 started off with a bang and with the start of the New Year, we are excited to see some changes in the ranking of the hottest celebrities in Korea.
According to Forbes Korea’s ‘Top 40 Power Celebrities of 2018’, BTS ranked as the most influential celebrity of 2018. Rest of the top five places were taken by fellow idol groups as Wanna One, TWICE, EXO and IU filled up 2nd ~5th place. The newlyweds, Song Hye-kyo and Song Joong-ki ranked side by side in 6th and 7th, Park Bo-gum followed in 8th and the 9th and 10th place was taken by Kim Yuna and Ryu Hyun-jin, respectively.
There is much interest to see how this list will change for the New Year. It will be hard to take down BTS since their international fame still holds them on top of the K-Pop Korean Wave, but we expected to see heated battle to fill in the rest of the list.
Forbes Korea has been announcing the most influential celebrity annually since 2009. Forbes’ annual announcement of ‘Celebrity 100’ has been modified according to Korean standards. Rankings are based on three criteria: sales, frequency of media exposures, and broadcasting activities.
