10+ Times BTS’s Suga Proved That “What Suga Wants, Suga Gets”
When BTS was first starting out, Suga had no idea that many of their lofty hopes and dreams would come true…or did he? Here are 10+ times Suga predicted the future with his uncanny psychic abilities!
1. The Grammy Awards
In 2018 interview, BTS was asked what the next step for them would be after they conquered Billboard. Suga shyly said a Grammy, making his members crack up. Little did they know that in 2019 they would be attending the Grammys as presenters, or that their Love Yourself: Tear album would be nominated for the “Best Recording Package”.
2. “Next up is Billboard”
Suga (aka Agust D) predicted BTS’s chart-topping success in his 2016 single “Agust D”. He claimed that BTS would conquer Billboard…and they did!
3. No.1 album on the Billboard 200 Chart, and Top 10 on the Hot 100
Agust D predicted BTS’s general success on the Billboard charts, but Suga also predicted these specific chart achievements! BTS earned their first number one spot on this chart with Love Yourself: Tear, and they also took a spot in the top 10 for Billboard’s Hot 100.
4. BTS’s BBMA performance
In 2017, BTS was asked what the next step would be in their careers. In reply, Suga said, “We want to perform [at the] Billboard Music Awards”. BTS performed at the BBMAs in early 2018.
5. Triple Crown win
Suga also said that he wanted a triple crown win…
…and he got it, years later, with “DNA”!
6. Seoul Olympic Stadium
During BTS’s 2015 Festa, Suga said that his wish was to see BTS perform at a large venue. He jokingly suggested Seoul’s Olympic Stadium and called his wish “outrageous”, not knowing that they would be performing there three years later. BTS performed at the Olympic Stadium on August 25 and 26 in 2018.
7. BTS’s first BBMA win
Suga wanted BTS to become nominees for the Billboard Music Awards and, low and behold, they ended up winning the “Top Social Artist” award, beating out top stars like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
8. BTS’s first Daesang
Suga felt that BTS truly deserved to win this award because of all the blood, sweat, and tears they put into 2016. BTS ended up winning their first-ever Daesang during that year’s Melon Music Awards.
9. Japan Dome Tour
In Agust D’s song “The Last”, Suga rapped about performing in Japan’s famous dome venues; “The things I’ve only imagined turns into reality / My childhood dreams are in front of my eyes / The night when I performed in front of an audience of 2 / Now Tokyo Dome is right in front my nose”. These domes became part of BTS’s 2018-2019 Love Yourself world tour.
10. TIME magazine
In an interview, Suga once said that he wanted BTS to become “the most influential artist in the world”. BTS was featured on the 2018 cover of TIME magazine for being “next generation leaders”.
11. “I want a big house, big cars, and big rings”
Suga rapped this line in BTS’s debut song “No More Dream”. Within the past year, he reportedly purchased a 3 million dollar apartment, became a global brand ambassador for Hyundai…
…and he wore these luxurious, custom-made rings on stage. Fun fact: Suga lost his “A” ring during a concert and said that whoever found it could keep it!
