SEVENTEEN’s The8, real name Xu Minghao, is a mentor on season 2 of Chinese survival show Idol Producer. He’s gaining love for his kind treatment of the trainees and fulfilling his role as their mentor.
As a mentor, it’s The8’s job to hold the trainees to a high standard and make sure they’re able to reach it. He strikes the perfect balance between strictly pushing them forward and being understanding of their situation: he made them practice for hours until the routine was perfect but rewarded them with snacks for working hard. Fans love The8’s duality.

During the performance, The8’s charismatic dancing and stable vocals surprised not only the audience but the judges as well. Best of all, his team of trainees was able to deliver a powerful, synchronized performance. Based on everyone’s enthusiastic cheers, they were deeply satisfied, but they weren’t the only ones.
