Fans Believe They Have Discovered The Name For SM Entertainment’s New Girl Group
Fans have been itching for any and every detail possible about SM Entertainment‘s new girl group, and many fans think they have discovered the group’s potential name: FRNZ.
FRNZ was registered under Korea’s trademark agency KIPRIS on April 12, 2019. Fans were quick to notice that the FRNZ trademark was filed under class 9 and 41, the most important classes for potential idol groups as it allows the trademark to be used for entertainment activities and for use on digital media such as albums.
Fans also compared the classification codes for FRNZ with SM Entertainment’s 2 most recent debuts: NCT and Red Velvet. They discovered that many of them matched between FRNZ and the 2 groups, providing more hope that the new girl group will be debuting sooner rather than later.
The extra classifications, 5, 27, 38, 39, and 40, are for things like pharmaceuticals (5), floor covers like carpets or rugs (27), telecommunications (38), transport (39), and material treatment (40).
Fans have taken to social media to share their feelings about the possible group name.
i find FRNZ unique but sm is not that dumb to name a group that's not even a word or can't be read or pronounced well? i speculate that FRNZ can still be changed if ever SMNGG owns it or i think it's just the intials of their name? or they'll still add vowels to it

Perhaps I'm more skeptical but "FRNZ" has been applied under some weird classes? Yes it's normal for trademarks to be applied under multiple classes bc of merchandise production (posters, shirts, etc.) and we know how diverse SM merchandises can be but some of these are just odd.

SM Entertainment has many female trainees who are waiting for debut. A few trainees, such as Seo Herin and possibly even Yiyang, have left the company, but there are many more who fans want to see debut. Some even think Taemin’s back-dancer is a trainee!
