59-Year-Old Agency CEO Receives 2 Year Probation Sentence For Sexually Harassing His Own Agency’s Female Band Member
59-year-old entertainment agency CEO “Kim” received a sentence of 2 years of probation and 40 hours of sexual violence therapy classes after it was revealed he sexually harassed a 23-year-old girl, who was a member of his agency’s girl band.
On August 21, the Seoul Central District Court ruled that “Kim” was sentenced to 2 years of probation and 40 hours of sexual violence therapy classes, with 10 months in prison should he violate his probation.
Back in December 2018, a female band member filed a complaint that “Kim” sexually harassed her in June 2017. According to the complaint, “Kim” wanted to talk to her about entertainment activities, but then forcibly molested her by pulling her in hard for a hug, and trying to touch her body.
The female band member was very shocked and terrified by “Kim” and his actions. His actions caused her to leave the band, saying that she could no longer work in the same company as him. Later, “Kim” admitted to his actions and apologized to her. But one day, “Kim’s” attitude towards the situation changed, and denied any wrongdoings. Because of this, she sued him.
Throughout the trials, “Kim” denied any sexual harassment, claiming that he felt the trial was unfair. On the other hand, the female band member stated that she was under considerable mental anguish after the sexual harassment, as she had relied and trusted “Kim” for a long time before the incident.
