Upcoming boy group ROMEO signs with Japanese agency before their official debut
This coming May, a new male group will be making their debut in Korea.
On April 20th, ROMEO‘s agency CT Entertainment revealed that the seven member group has already been signed with a Japanese agency, Pony Canyon, in a strategic move. This is a significant move as Pony Canyon is considered one of the powerhouse agencies in Japan.
CT Entertainment added, “There have been situations when Japanese music labels will sign on K-pop singers, but it’s unusual for a Japanese music label to want to start up a Korean group. Because of the trust between the two agencies [CT Entertainment and Pony Canyon], this project is able to be produced.”
It is further noted that CT Entertainment’s CEO is headed by Hwang Sung Wook and the agency founded by staff that have worked under SM Entertainment for at least 10 years.
Pony Canyon currently manages Korean entertainers Jang Geun Seuk, Crayon pop, B1A4, and BTS.
