BTS’s Jimin’s Solo Song “Serendipity” Continues To Maintain Its Impressive Global Popularity
BTS‘s Jimin‘s solo song “Serendipity” continues to maintain its position as one of BTS’s greatest solo songs ever to be released.
First released as the intro song on BTS’s Love Yourself: Her album in 2017, it was then added as a full-length song on their 2018 Love Yourself: Answer album.
As of today, Jimin’s solo song has soared to the #1 position on Peru’s iTunes charts, a position it’s held for three consecutive days. It also rose to the #9 spot on Mozambique’s iTunes charts, showing that fans have no intention of stopping their love for this song.
“Serendipity” became the first music video of a BTS solo song to surpass 100 million views, and is currently at the 135 million view mark. In the first twenty-four hours of its release, the music video garnered over seven million views and over one million likes. Additionally, as of June 11, the song has surpassed 150 million streams on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform. This makes “Serendipity” the ninth most-streamed BTS song on Spotify.
The definition of serendipity is “something that happens by chance happily or beneficially.” “Serendipity” is a song about being madly in love but also feeling anxious about these intense feelings. The lyrics are all about destiny, about how this love was made from the moment the universe was created.
From the time the universe was created, everything was destined [to be]. Just let me love you.
—Jimin from “Serendipity”
However, the lyrics also tell about a story of chance (serendipity), that this love has been made real because of a combination of destiny and chance occurrences.
Regardless of how one interprets the song’s lyrics, there’s no doubt that “Serendipity”‘s remarkable achievements are written in the stars.
