BTS J-Hope’s “Chicken Noodle Soup (feat. Becky G)” Achieves An Impressive Milestone
J-Hope has become yet another BTS member to have a solo song’s music video reach an amazing milestone.
Earlier on June 21, J-Hope’s music video for “Chicken Noodle Soup (feat. Becky G)” surpassed 7 million likes. Unlike views, which can be done an indefinite amount of times per account, a “like” can only be made once, making it an especially important measure of popularity.
Currently, the music video shows 273 thousand dislikes. However, when compared to the number of likes, it becomes a ratio of 691/1, meaning that for every 619 people who like the music video, only one person dislikes it.
On November 4, 2019, the music video surpassed the 100 million view milestone, a feat that took only 38 days to accomplish. As of today, June 21, the view count stands at nearly 169 million views.
J-Hope shared that the song was inspired by DJ Webstar and Young B‘s 2006 song of the same name. He initially wanted the song to be included on his 2018 double mixtape Hope World, but since a collaboration couldn’t be arranged, it was put off until the following year.
“Chicken Noodle Soup (feat. Becky G)” has performed exceptionally well overseas. It ranked as high as #81 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, as high as #55 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 cart, and as high as #82 on the United Kingdom official singles chart. The song became the first to ever debut on all three charts within the top 100 rankings at the same time, becoming the first-ever song to do so.
The music video also jumpstarted a global dance challenge. Titled the #CNSChallenge,” it was hosted on the short-video app TikTok, though videos were uploaded on nearly every social media platform.
Spearheading the challenge we, of course, had fellow members Jimin, V, and Jungkook dancing to the song (and maybe clowning their hyung a bit):
BTS’s younger brother group TXT joined in on the fun:
Even Emmy Award-winning TV host Ryan Seacrest and guest anchor Lisa Rinna tried their hand at the challenge on an episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan:
Congrats, J-Hope, on this fantastic milestone. Thank you for sharing your dance, voice, and smiles, and we can’t wait to see more of it in the future!
