"It's Okay To Not Be Okay" Accused Of Plagiarizing Late Jonghyun's Letter

The popular tvN drama, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, which recently faced controversy for sexual harassment, is also being accused of plagiarizing an excerpt from a letter that late Jonghyun from the group, SHINee left behind.

Following an episode that aired on June 20, various online communities criticized a line exchanged by Go Moon Young (Seo Ye Ji) and Moon Gang Tae (Kim Soo Hyun) during their first meeting.

In the scene, Gang Tae saw Moon Young smoking which led him to ask, “This is a non-smoking zone. Please put that out.”

And in response, Moon Young replied,

Do you believe in fate? Fate is nothing special. If you appear when I need you, that’s fate.

But fans of late Jonghyun are making accusations that this line was copied from a letter Jonghyun wrote to fans at a solo concert.

The excerpt in question reads as follows:

So what I’m saying is… I don’t think fate is anything special. What we are is fate.

Many fans are demanding that the producers address the issue and are even trending the hashtag “#address the plagirism_of Jonghyun’s letter_in it’s okay.”

While some are accusing the drama of plagiarizing Jonghyun’s letter without giving credit, others are expressing the possibility that it could’ve just been a coincidence.
