Meet The BLACKPINK Backup Dancer Who Debuted In 5 K-Pop Groups
BLACKPINK is one of the most popular groups in the industry. Besides their visuals and talent, it is the staff around them, from managers to producers to back-up dancers, who helped them achieve their goals.
While it’s easy to overlook these people, they deserve attention for their own skills. One backup dancer of BLACKPINK’s has shown more than anyone that she is beyond a dancer—that she is hard working idol who has dreams of her own. This is none other than Moon Jinsil. Born on January 8, 1991, she’s a 29 year old aspirant who is full of determination to make it big in the industry.
She featured in performances like Jennie‘s “SOLO” and BLACKPINK‘s Tokyo Dome Concert.
Lee Hi‘s comeback with B.I, “No One”, also had her as a back-up dancer.
Moreover, Pink Fantasy‘s own first single “Fantasy” was choreographed by Jinsil.
Before dancing for BLACKPINK, she debuted in a handful of K-Pop groups that unfortunately disbanded time and again. The first one was none other than Global Icon (GI) who was famous for their androgynous style upon debut. She took the stage name Heeso where she was the lead rapper, lead dancer, and vocalist.
In May 2016, Jinsil re-debuted with the group AGIRLS where she kept the stage name Heeso.
She left soon after and joined HEXE as their main dancer. Like the groups before this, they disbanded sometime that year.
In 2017, she debuted yet again with the group Various where she was the leader. Sadly, they disbanded in 2018.
Despite already having four failed debuts under her belt, Jinsil tried again in 2020 to make it in the K-Pop industry. She debuted with VH Entertainment‘s five-member group BLASTAR on July 31. She sings part of the main chorus of “One Way”, their debut single.
She is the lead vocalist and lead dancer of the group. For the first time since her first debut with Global Icon in 2015, she made her real name, Jinsil, her stage name.
Only time can tell if BLASTAR will end up becoming the big break Jinsil always wanted.
