IZ*ONE In Discussion On Whether Or Not To Disband Next April
It looks like girl group IZ*ONE could be disbanding early next year. This Korean-Japanese group was created through Mnet’s audition program Produce 48 back in 2018. Their 2 year and 6 month contract with CJ E&M is coming to an end and they seem to be leaning towards not renewing their contract.
According to media outlets, they have received the opinions of each members’ agencies and have moved towards the idea of disbanding. However, because they still have five months before their contract expires, they will listen to the members’ thoughts a final time before making an official decision.
One members’ agency stated, ”The members’ thoughts are the most important. They’ve promoted for a long time and have received a lot of love from fans. The majority feel that they have done enough as a group.”
They added, “The members are currently preparing for a new album. They will also be attending the end of the year ceremony so they plan to talk about making a final decision early next year.”
The potential for group disbandment first started in Japan as they reported that the group would release their first photo book in March before disbanding in April.
If IZ*ONE makes the final decision to disband in next April, all groups created through the Produce series will have disbanded.
The producers of the Produce series have previously admitted to manipulating viewer votes.
