BTS’s V Reveals His Inspiration For “BE’s” Visuals, And How RM Helped Him
At the BTS Global Press Conference “BE”, V talked about his role as Visual Director for BE, and his creative process.
As Visual Director, V was responsible for curating ideas for the album’s visual components. This was a daunting task, but his members and fans supported him each step of the way.
We really wanted to show meaningful content to ARMY, and that’s why I started this. It wasn’t an easy process, but I tried my best. The members and ARMY supported me a lot so we could do it successfully.

BE is a personal, down to earth album that expresses BTS’s feelings about life in the COVID-19 pandemic. They felt it was important to show their natural sides; BTS as ordinary people who are going through the same struggles their fans are facing right now.
V found his inspiration for this through one of his favorite hobbies: photography.
We all started with taking pictures of each other’s natural selves when we were relaxed, and we pursued that. When we went on a trip together, I took a polaroid camera with me, and I took the pictures with my polaroid when they were just hanging out, and I thought that those pictures looked really natural and really pretty, so that’s how I got my first idea.

According to V, it was RM who came up with the “room” idea for BTS’s individual concept photos.
And RM actually said, ‘How about we come with the idea of our rooms for our concept photos? How about we decide on our concept of our rooms and decorate our rooms how we like. And was actually applied to our individual concept photos. I hope you look forward to that too. It’s already revealed.

“[It made me kind of] nervous to take on the role of Visual Director,” V confessed. “but ARMY supported me a lot so I did it, I made it. Thank you.”
