Apink’s Chorong Opens Up About The Stress Of Becoming The Group’s Leader At A Young Age
Apink‘s Chorong opened up about her struggles with being a leader of a girl group at the young age of 21!
Chorong appeared as a guest on MAMAMOO Solar‘s YouTube channel, Solarsido, where Solar conducted an interview with her! In the interview, she asked her tons of interesting questions, such as her hobbies these days, questions about Apink, and more!
Both Chorong and Solar are the same age, and also serve as the leaders of their respective groups! While conversing, Solar brought up the topic of contract renewals, and praised Chorong for being a great leader to her group, and keeping them together through the 7-year jinx!
You’re the unnie and leader. You told them, “Trust me and follow me”. So people were like, “Wow…she’s cool”, at that. People talked a lot about that. I couldn’t really feel it then, but thinking about it now…it really was cool!
I don’t know…It was just cool.

Solar then also talked about how awkward and new it was for them as leaders, in the beginning, further praising Chorong for killing it as a leader at the young age of 20!
Everything was a first for us and awkward. At least for me…24? Since I debuted later. You were almost 20. You started around that time. At such a young age, having to lead a team, I think it would have been really hard.

While agreeing with her, Chorong opened up about the trials and tribulations of being a leader of 5 other girls at such a young age! While it was hard, Chorong admitted that she also learned a lot!
I debuted when I was 21. I didn’t know it then, but looking back now, I was really young… At first, there was only pressure. I was like, “How do I do this?” As I went on, I got more responsibilities. And I think being a leader helped me a lot when it came to activities.

She then went into detail about the stress that her leadership position brought her in the early days as Apink, and how it shaped her into who she is today!
Whenever something happened, there would be so many things I had to be mindful of (as a leader). Early in our debut, my nickname was “general hospital”. I really went to the hospital a lot. For no reason, just going to the emergency room. After that, I started obsessing over healthy foods. So now, I’m actually healthier!

Apink debuted in 2011, and will be celebrating their 10th anniversary next year! They made their last comeback in April 2020 with their 9th mini-album Look, and title track “Dumhdurum”.
