Kim Go Eun To Star In New Drama Adaptation Of “Yumi’s Cells”
Kim Go Eun has just been confirmed to star in the upcoming drama adaptation of the hit webtoon Yumi’s Cells! Go Eun will be playing the main role, Yumi, who is an ordinary office worker who has difficulty in expressing her feelings. The story is told by her many brain cells that control her actions, feelings, and thoughts as she learns to find happiness in the little things in life.
Go Eun commented on the popularity of the webtoon. “I think it was the power of ’empathy’ that the love story of an ordinary woman Yumi has made many people cry and laugh for a long time, and I look forward to the future journey.”
The drama is expected to do well not only because of the popularity of the webtoon, but the talent in the cast and crew. Kim Go Eun famously has experience with The King: Eternal Monarch, Goblin, and Cheese in the Trap. Directer Lee Sang Yeob directed dramas such as My Holo Love, Familiar Wife, and Shopping King Louie. Screenwriter Song Jae Jung wrote hits such as Memories of the Alhambra, W, and Queen In Hyun’s Man.
The drama will supposedly combine both live-action and animation. It is set to begin filming in early 2021.
