The Golden Disc Awards (GDA) To Bring “The Great Gasby” To 2021
For the first time, the annual Golden Disc Awards (GDA) will be a virtual “on-tact” event, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Korean media reports that all performances will be pre-recorded without an audience and the red carpet will instead show photos taken at a pre-recorded photo shoot.
This year’s theme for the ceremony is “RE”, which means “again”. Each stage will aim to bring consolation and hope to viewers who are exhausted by daily life in the “new normal”, giving them the strength to start again.
I hope that the 2020 year of loss will be left behind and we’ll leap into 2021 through the Golden Disc Awards.
— Director Yun Jin-hee, organizer for the GDAs
The GDAs stage is inspired by The Great Gatsby, a 1925 novel by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the prosperous Jazz Age, it tells the story of a dreamer who never stops hoping. The GDAs stage will be a neon party filled with dancing and splendor.
