On July 24th, Momono Ayaka issued a statement titled “Important Notice” on X (formerly Twitter). In it, she told fans that she will be undergoing surgery in September for thyroid cancer. She found out about her diagnosis just three months after her debut date with Amor Amore. was confirmed.

Actually, I have a malignant tumor on my thyroid. I plan to be hospitalized and have surgery in September.

I found out about this illness three months after my debut was decided. When I found out, the first thing I thought about was how to keep working hard with the members and not cause them trouble, and how to tell the fans without worrying them.

I originally thought about hiding it, but if I suddenly stopped activities in September, everyone would be surprised, so I decided to talk about it honestly here.

It took me a long time to accept the illness myself, and honestly, I was scared of having surgery since I’m not good with injections. Looking at the calendar and seeing September approaching was terrifying every day.

But when I’m being an idol, I can forget about being sick and keep smiling and doing activities, which was a great help to me.

So, I decided to have the surgery properly so I can come back quickly and return in a healthy state.

Since I want to participate in as many live performances as possible, I’ll be taking a break from September 8th. I plan to return on October 1st. I don’t know if my body will move as I want it to or if I’ll be able to speak well by then, but I’ll do my best to recover, so please wait for me.
