Malaysian actress and singer Bonnie Loo spilled the tea on her secret relationship months after it ended. Loo said she began dating her boyfriend, who is not a celebrity but has friends in the business, after he pursued her romantically for a year. His initial interest did not, however, stop him from straying.

I’ll admit I was being stupid in this relationship, and my friends have also tried telling me so. The warning signs were there, but I didn’t pay them any attention. Maybe it’s because I don’t have enough experience in relationships.

Loo’s ex-boyfriend had a close female friend in the entertainment industry who raised Loo’s suspicions for several reasons. Reason #1: Loo’s ex-boyfriend didn’t invite Loo to social gatherings when that particular female friend was present.

Reason #2: Loo’s ex told her he was going to room with his friend for a little while because the rent was cheap, but Loo later found out that her ex and the friend had begun living together long before she found out about it.

I was very emotional when I found out because I had to hear it from my friends. They asked if I was kept in the dark, or if I was being lied to.

While it’s not unheard of for friends of the opposite sex to share a house, it’s far less common for them to share a single room within that house platonically. Loo found out about this detail from her ex-boyfriend’s mother.

Reason #3: Soulmates. When Loo met with her ex-boyfriend and his female friend to talk about her discomfort with their living situation, her ex and his friend called each other soulmates while trying to convince Loo that they were just friends.

If they are soulmates, he shouldn’t have been in a relationship with me in the first place. He should’ve just gotten together with her. What does he need a girlfriend for?

Unfortunately, the actress couldn’t completely cut off her ex-boyfriend after their breakup because she still needed something from him–money. More specifically, her money. During their relationship, she loaned her ex a six-figure amount to help him with his struggling business endeavors. In the end, the relationship cost Loo money, love, and even her reputation.

Before, I gave too much love to [my ex] and neglected myself. I lost my pretty and cheerful self, so I just want to spend more time on loving myself now.

Even though Loo was the person who was officially dating her then-boyfriend–albeit secretly–she has been mistaken for the “other woman.” As such, she wanted to go public to clear her name.

[My ex and his friend] have always been very secretive and have never admitted to being in a relationship. I, on the other hand, told my friends that we were together. I want to let their friends know about the entire situation, and let them know that I was not a third party.
