“Yeah, it was very unfortunate…”

Two actresses who are best friends in real life experienced unforeseen challenges while filming a show together.

In Emerald Hill, a series that is expected to air in 2025, Chantalle Ng and Tasha Low play enemies Low plays a poor woman who discovers that she is actually the long-lost daughter of a rich family. Ng plays the role of Low’s character’s cousin, who tries to force her out of the family.

To get into the role, Low has been avoiding her bestie on set. This is because it’s been difficult for her to slip into character.

The first few scenes I did with her (in Emerald Hill) were really tough. I couldn’t get into character. I couldn’t scold her or have any hatred for her because we’re so close.

The dynamic is much different than their real-life one, which involves hanging out a lot of time outside of work and treating each other like sisters. It got to the point where Ng actually teared up on set because of Low’s avoidance.

There was one full day I didn’t manage to talk to Tasha. I teared up a bit. Yeah, it was very unfortunate, because I enjoy spending time with her. Then she didn’t even join us for lunch and I had to talk to other people that I’m not close to.

Hopefully, these “enemies” can go back to being best friends on set soon!
