Popular Idol-Turned-Actor Accidentally Exposes His Own Lip-Syncing
While it’s not uncommon for singers to lip-sync during some live performances, especially while tackling challenging choreography, it has its downsides. With lip-syncing, any mistake–forgetting lyrics, missed timing, etc–becomes glaringly obvious to the audience.
Before making his acting debut in 2017, Chen Zheyuan debuted as an idol in 2015. He was a member of Mr.BIO, a Chinese boy group under Gramarie Entertainment and FNC Entertainment China that was formed through the survival show King of Pop.
Chen Zheyuan’s popularity began to rise in 2020 after he starred in the Wuxia series Handsome Siblings. Three years later, he was launched into international stardom after starring opposite Zhao Lusi in 2023 in the Netflix series Hidden Love.
On New Year’s Eve, Chen Zheyuan sang a duet with actress Cheng Xiao for HunanTV‘s countdown show. The performance went smoothly until about the last 30 seconds.
While dancing with Cheng Xiao during a part of the song where they were both supposed to sing, Chen Zheyuan didn’t raise his mic, exposing his lip-syncing. The clip has reportedly gone viral on Chinese media.
