Handsome Actor Who Fell From Grace Is Unrecognizable Now
An actor who once gained attention for his handsome looks and promising acting abilities is unrecognizable now. Both his career and appearance have undergone a drastic transformation.
In 2003, Taiwanese actor Fan Chih Wei (who also goes by Robert Fan and Wing Fan), rose to fame after starring in the Taiwanese gay romance series Crystal Boys. He went on to appear in a number of series and movies before a scandal rocked his career.
On April Fool’s Day in 2010, Fan posted a photo of himself and his ex-girlfriend singer-actress Cyndi Wang, along with disturbing details about their relationship. The stars began dating in 2000 and broke up six years later. In his post, Fan revealed that he had had two intimate romantic relationships before dating Wang, who was then 17 years old. After finding out that Wang had not lost her virginity to him but to someone else before they began dating, Fan was “disappointed.” In an interview later that month, he also confessed to being violent towards Wang while they were dating.
At the time, Fan made headlines and faced major backlash for his behavior, but that wasn’t the end of it. In 2011, he was accused of physically abusing his then-girlfriend, the head of a French cosmetics brand. After his career nosedived, Fan moved to China to pursue acting, set up a media company, and more, resulting in drained finances and stints of being unemployed.
Over the years, the once promising actor’s appearance changed along with his career.
Fan’s weight gain and unkempt appearance reportedly drew ire from netizens, who likened the former heartthrob to an “uncle” and lambasted his attempts to return to the spotlight.
