He has pleaded not guilty.

The alleged incident took place on March 2 at a restaurant in Mong Kok. Kamimura is charged with indecent assault for groping a woman, referred to in court documents as “X,” at a venue located on the third floor of 180 Portland Street. The woman was allegedly an interpreter at his fanmeeting, and Kamimura was promptly kicked out of his group following the accusations.

According to local media, Kamimura was visibly emotional during the hearing. He stood in the dock with shaking hands and, at one point, broke down crying. When the magistrate asked if he needed a break, he replied first in Japanese that he did not, then reassured the court in Cantonese, saying, “It’s okay.

Despite the nature of the case, the court saw a significant turnout. By 6 AM, lines had already formed outside the courthouse. By 8 AM, around 80 people were gathered, many of them fans from Japan. Some were seen carrying luggage, suggesting they had traveled to Hong Kong specifically for the hearing.

The defense stated it was prepared for trial, and Kamimura confirmed his not-guilty plea in Japanese. The prosecution announced plans to call two eyewitnesses and will not rely on any confession. The defense may also present one or two witnesses.

The alleged victim will apply to testify through television broadcast, but the defense has raised an objection to this method. The judge will make his decision on this matter later.

The trial is scheduled for July 30 to August 1. Kamimura will remain on bail until the proceedings begin.
