Actor Apologizes To Fans And Reporters In Person For His Dating Controversy

A popular actor has made a public apology in the midst of an ongoing controversy. The controversy centers on his girlfriend–and the public’s disapproval of her.

Huang Xiaoming, one of China’s highest-paid actors and ex-husband of actress Angelababy, has been dating his 15-years-younger girlfriend, Ye Ke, for over a year. Since confirming the relationship, Huang has endured criticism not for dating, but for his choice of girlfriend.

Ye Ke has been criticized for being “fake and irritating,” flaunting her wealth, and lying about her family background. She was accused of cheating by her ex-husband and was rumored to have asked Huang for a $37 million “breakup fee” to end their relationship. Ye denied the breakup fee rumor and her ex-husband’s infidelity accusation.

Initially, Huang stayed silent rather than addressing the controversy. On November 15, he spoke about the controversy and apologized during a promotional event for his film The Wig Maker.
